This winter recruitment period proves to be a period of intense rumour and potential major moves. Several high-profile stars are being linked with transfers away from their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the major names who might be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the player in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is close. This 25-year-old has a deal featuring a substantial release clause active for a brief period at the start of the month. Latest reports suggest Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late move.

Marc Guéhi

This England centre-back has excel for Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his deal due to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains difficult, especially given the manager's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found starting minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Although finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally credited with an inquiry.

This Portugal midfielder might be poised for a return to the English top flight after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, while his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a possible bargain. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona under the manager Flick. After lost his place and undergone surgery, a January departure seems highly probable. Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

The prolific England centre-forward has kept scoring regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. Juventus are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but face a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest prospects.

Kees Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. The teenager is widely expected to complete a major transfer this month.
