Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
